Hi, I'm Adeline! I fell in love with Japan on my first trip there in 2013. I was lucky enough to be able to move to Fukuoka, in western Japan, in 2014. I started a fitness studio, where I led group hikes in the countryside and taught yoga classes in English to a mix of locals and expats. In my free time, I loved going to onsen, Japanese hot springs, and learning about the traditional tea ceremony. My husband and I met and married in Japan, then moved to Colorado in 2018 where I spent several years working for InsideJapan Tours as a Travel Consultant.

I started Savor and Soak Travel Co. because I have a passion for travel and love talking all things Japanese culture, food, and language. I love when my clients are able to come home from a trip not only with an album full of gorgeous photos, but also moments where they connected with the people and the culture.

How are you different from a travel agent?

While I do have an IATA number and can offer travel agent perks at big hotels, my big value add is my Japan experience. I can book small family run Japanese inns that do not offer commission, and charging a planning fee allows me to spend time putting together sightseeing suggestions and recommending and booking the best experiences for you.

    What do you book?

We can book all of your accommodations, activities and guides, and long-distance train tickets. We also provide IC transit cards, which allow you to tap in and out of subways and busses. For trips at the Omakase level, we can also make restaurant reservations.

Why don't you offer restaurant reservations as a standard service?

We do not offer restaurant reservations as part of the Osusume Service, as restaurant reservations in Japan are quite strict. Often, your card is charged for a cancellation or change in guest numbers within 48 hours of the reservation time, or your phone number is black-listed so you're not able to reserve at other restaurants in Japan. For this reason, I don't recommend making tons of restaurant reservations in Japan unless there are specific restaurants you'd like to visit. There are so many amazing walk-in options that reservations aren't necessary.

Adeline planned a remarkable two-week family trip to Japan with our 10 and 4-year-olds. She is a careful listener with an abundance of ideas and recommendations that are outside anything we could have planned on our own. She struck the perfect balance between historical and pop culture activities to keep the whole family engaged. We traversed much of the country by train and she had all our tickets purchased in advance and delivered to our first hotel. Adeline has personally been to so many of the places she recommends and she writes about them in a way that makes it feel like she’s there guiding you. The app she used for our itinerary was incredibly user-friendly and easy to reference. I wish there was an expert like Adeline to plan our trip to every destination!
